But I do have a new project in the works. I'm working on making beer cozies. I have two or three different patterns, and I already have one made (so I lied...there's one FO). If anyone reading this has made any, I'd love to see pics and find out if you were satisfied. I think these would be excellent Christmas gifts for our friends here in town. All of our friends from college that still live close try to get together once a month (more now that football has started up) for a little party, and these would be great gifts for those people on the "12 Month Party Plan". So, I'm all ears...I'm open to suggestions.

Wow! Friday, we went out to dinner with friends and I spent the rest of the night getting ready for Saturday. Saturday, we met up with my parents to celebrate Trail of Tears, and we rode the motorcycles all day. I finally got a little knitting done last night while watching the Emmys.

What I'm Watching - Degrassi. I've seen all the old episodes about 12 times each, but I've gotten the husband hooked, so I'm watching them all again ( and learning how obsessed I really am).

What I'm Reading - Still the Laurell K. Hamilton book.

What I'm Listening to - Still a playlist of randomness.

Okay, I'll post TOT pictures when I get them from my mom. Not much to tell...I did finish the wristlets, and promptly cast on another. I don't think I'm ready for that title yet.

So--here's my list of randomness for this week.

What I'm watching - Corner Gas. WGN just started airing episodes last night, and I'm hooked.
What I'm reading - Laurell K. Hamilton's " Incubus Dreams". I'm trying to do this whole "read a book a week" thing. Part of that is exploring new authors that I've never read. Always looking for suggestions. I'll read anything.
What I'm listening to- this week is a random week. I go from Dr. Dre to the Grateful Dead in 0-2 seconds. I'm just keeping the iPod on random.

I'm also starting the major diet today! No more Little Debbie Cakes! No more chocolate! (Except for maybe just a little dark chocolate. It's good for the old ticker, I hear.)

I'm still here!!!!

Okay, I know I haven't posted in months, but I've decided to at least start posting once a week. I have so many things on the needles, that it's insane. I have major project ADD.
Here's the rundown:
1) Cedar Creek socks from BMFA in STR Farmhouse - I'm just past the gusset on the second sock. I'm moving slow because I a) have way too many projects going and b) it's too damned hot to wear socks.
2) Tiny socks - I'm making little tiny socks out of scrap sock yarn for Christmas ornaments. I've done about 10.
3) Socks for Vance - My kiddo asked for socks, so I'm doing him a pair of simple socks in this green Trekking that I have.
4) Wrist Warmers - I've been wanting to make a pair, because my hands are always cold, so I'm doing the Knitty Gritty Wristlets from Marnie McLean in some leftover L&V. I'm almost done with the second one.
5) Chevron Scarf from LMKG- I'm doing this in two crazy colors of KnitPicks Memories- Hawaii and Spring Prairie. It's GORGEOUS and so bright and Frank-ish that I've decided to call it the "Costanza Scarf".
6) (Yes, I have 6 things on the needles) Ballband Dishcloth from MDK - In beige and black Peaches n Cream.

Other than that, this is what I'm doing--

What I'm working on- Getting a Ruben Studdard concert off without a hitch.

What I'm watching - Yesterday, I watched the Oxygen marathon of Pasadena. They do this once a year, and I watch the entire show every time. Love it!

What I'm reading - "A Dirty Job" by Christopher Moore....LOVE it!

What I'm listening to- Don't laugh...My Chemical Romance

So...until next time...I promise it won't be two months!

WWKIP Day? Missed it.

Okay, so Saturday was WWKIP day. I didn't K at all, in P or otherwise. It's surprising, because I'm always K'ing. But I had good reason.

We got up Saturday morning, hopped on the bike and headed to Memphis. We got to our room, checked in, and headed to the Flying Saucer for beer and lunch. (Purple Haze on tap and brats...perfect meal.) After a nap, we headed to Huey's for more beer, and to Rendevouz for ribs! We walked down to Beale and hung out at Silky's for awhile, and realized that it was really late, so we stumbled back to our room.

After a fabulous breakfast on Sunday, we rode back with perfect weather. All in all, it was a perfect weekend.

Now, as for Sunday night's festivities, I was less than impressed. I'm talking about the Sopranos finale. I was super pumped about how Phil got what was coming to him, but less than pumped about the rest. Tonight's the Big Love season premiere. Yay!!!!!

Here's a list for this week. Not the same as previous lists, but here we go.

Top 5 Bars

5. Silky O' Sullivans, Memphis - Dueling pianos, Diver buckets, a goat that lives there. What else do you need?

4. Bumpers Bar & Grill, Iron City, TN - Ahh, the redneck hangout of my youth. Many a Friday (and Saturday) were wasted (oh, wait...I was wasted) here. I haven't been back in years, but it's still a fave.

3. Flying Saucer, Several locations - I live in a town with no draft beer whatsoever. So this is like Mecca.

2. Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, Nashville, TN - Shoulder to shoulder drunk people singing country songs as loud as they possibly can. Not for the faint of heart. Actually, not for the sober.

and

1. Florabama, Orange Beach, AL & Pensacola, FL - You gotta love a bar that gets partially destroyed by a hurricane, and instead of rebuilding, just straps a tarp over the broken parts. Classic white trash bar. I make a annual pilgrimage to Mullet Toss, which is a huge celebration around people throwing fish across the state line. It's the best.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://crittapointysticks.blogspot.com/2007/06/wwkip-day-missed-it.html' title='WWKIP Day? It was the first weekend in almost a month that I had absolutely NOTHING planned. I finished my Jaywalkers, worked on my Twist & Shout, ripped out the T&S, restarted the T&S, ripped out the T&S, and restarted the T&S. (I really should think about swatching.) Saturday, I had some well deserved pool time, after which I turned a nice shade of maroon. Sunday, after church, I sat on the porch and knit while the boys played in the pool. My Mother's Day present was an iTunes gift card. My boys totally know how to make me happy...music and yarn!

So...on with the week!

Long time...no blog

It's been awhile. I've finished a lot of socks since the last post. So many, in fact, that I'm going to have to go back and see what fo's are lying around. I recently finished a pair of Jaywalkers in Patons Kroy sock. And then I promptly cast on... a pair of Jaywalkers in Patons Kroy Sock! I'm one original beeya.

Also on the needles...the Twist & Shout sock in Little Bunny Foo Foo (STR) and the never ending Clapotis. I'll be working on that one until the end of time.

Since I haven't blogged in awhile, I want to do something fun.

Things I Love Today!
- Sock yarn
- York mints
- Strappy peep toe wedge heels
- Headbands
- Orange post it notes

Things I Loathe Today :(
- Work
- Work
- Work
- Work
- Work

I love sinus infections...

But really...who doesn't? At least the meds are fun.

Anyhoo, finished two (count em! two!) Jayne hats this weekend. Wool of the Andes is fabulous to work with. I will absolutely use it again. Now, the old man and I can be matchy-matchy in our hats.

Finished my crazy scarf...it may be a little too crazy for me. It knitted up quickly as I was waiting in the doctor's office on Monday.

I'm working on that darned Twilight Zone sock. We're going on a road trip this weekend, so that means "knitting time!". I'm trying to decide my next project....I have some Knitpicks Memories in the Smores colorway, and I was thinking about Monkey from Knitty.com. Who knows? I tend to have project a.d.d. these days. Who am I kidding? I have regular a.d.d. everyday!

Work has been a total suck-fest this week, so I'm ready for some well needed tv & knitting time tonight. I bet I can get through the heel of this sock while watching the Office, Grey's, 30 Rock, and Nashville Star. (God, I love tivo.)

The man is supposed to help me post pics this weekend, so my many fans can do more than read words. Woo hoo!!!

I'm a sucky blogger. And I can't figure out how to get pics on here. Because I'm computer illiterate.

Here is what is on/off the needles:
Off
-Hedera's are done! They're kind of wonky, but after blocking, they should be cute. I modified the pattern due to the yarn I was using, but they turned out pretty cool.
On
- My mom gave me this funky yarn for Christmas....it's a crazy fluffy mess with extra long eyelash mixed in. It's way crazy, but I decided to cast it on just to see what it looks like. It looks like...crazy. And I like it, so I'm doing a long, funky scarf with it.
- The second "Twilight Zone" sock. The first was ugly, but I'm having problems with just having one finished sock. It haunts me, so I'm making it's mate.
- My Knit Picks order came yesterday, and I'm casting on a Jayne Cobb hat tonight. The husband watched "The Message" last week, and was asking about the hat. I had already decided to make him one as a surprise, so I guess I need to go ahead and get it made.

Oh well...back to work and watching the clock!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://crittapointysticks.blogspot.com/2007/02/friday-woo-hoo.html' title='Friday!!! I just wasn't feeling it. So...to get over my malaise, I decided to cast on Hedera from Knitting in Cascade Pima Tencel. I love this yarn, and I've adjusted the pattern to make up for it, since it's a little chunkier. It gives it a fun look. Love that yarn...love the color.

Mittens from hell

Well, King Kong's mittens are finished. One of my resolutions is to actually maintain a knitting blog in 2007. I've compiled some other resolutions (knitting and otherwise): 1. Knitting Blog 2. Lose 10 lbs. 3. Tackle cables (that scares the crap out of me) 4. complete 10 pairs of socks 5. Learn to spin.

I spent New Year's Eve and New Year's Day starting on number 4. I have two skeins of Bernat Sox that the hubby gave me for my birthday, so I'm doing a pair of simple socks (using a lion brand pattern) out of them. I had one skein of pink and one of blue, so I'm doing a stripe. (That's why I chose the simple pattern). I turned the heel on sock one last night.

Here's my knitting queue for the next month:
1. Finish blue and pink simple socks...now known as the "Twilight Zone Socks", because that's what I watched nonstop for two days while working on them.
2. Fingerless mitts from OneSkein...I have some grey fingering weight that I'm going to use.
3. Felted mittens. Mom gave me some "Felt it" yarn and a mitten pattern for Christmas, so I better cast that on!
4. Find something to use all of the alpaca that I got for Christmas. Looking for suggestions....When I get the camera working, I'll post pics.

Happy New Year!!!

I'm here

So I decided to create a blog to talk about knitting. I have a MySpace page, but I wanted a place to record my knitting projects where my non-knitter friends wouldn't make fun of me. (Silly non-knitting friends).

I have been knitting for almost 5 years, and just now got lured into the world of sock knitting. I'm working on my first sock pair, actually on the second sock, using a simple sock pattern from Stephanie Pearl McPhee's Knitting Rules book. I'll try and post pics when I kitchener up the second toe.

I'm also beginning my holiday knitting, doing various scarves and hats for friends and family.

Well, this is the end of my first post...Ta, ta.
